Chive Buds

I love the color and lines in this image.  Like many of my daily images, this one was an afterthought while I was photographing something else (columbine flowers) and I wound up liking it better than the images I was trying to make in the first place!  This is also a rare (for me) time when I get to accentuate color before anything else.  I brought down the contrast and warmed it up quite a bit and then actually increased the saturation and vibrance (I’m usually prone to desaturating and sometimes increasing vibrance).  I really like the result.  It’s a learning process!

Backlit Dandelions

Took me way to long to decide which photo I wanted to put up for today’s post.  Mostly because I wasn’t completely happy with either one!  I like them both, but there was something about each that bothered me.  So here we have the backlit dandelion flowers and below I have included the other two I was considering.

Overcast Violets

Some violets in flower under Moss (his leaves haven’t quite unfurled yet so it’s still pretty sunny there).  I processed this image to enhance the look of the overcast afternoon.  I’ve been sticking with about f5 in Aperture priority because I like blurry backgrounds, but I think I could have opened it up a bit more for this (especially seeing as though I had it all the way down to 35mm).  I can’t wait to see what images like this one look like with a 50mm prime…

Bright Daffodils

Unlike the other images I made, I took this photo looking up with the grey sky in the background which enabled me to bring up the exposure in Lightroom brightening the Daffodils and turning the sky white (the first time I did that it was with irises in the snow, but I’m pleased this worked the same way!).

Easter Eggs

Happy Easter!  I love how my painted eggs came out but I had a terrific time trying to decide how I wanted to process this photo.  I was pretty drawn to one version that made them look like golden eggs (below) but I really wanted the colors to come through because, well, they’re EASTER eggs and they’re supposed to be colorful.
