These were the first full blooms from my husband’s daughter’s plumeria cuttings. They are pretty special because they were grown indoors in the northeast in a house that was pretty cold most of the winter.
We were very proud of these blooms, and I took a lot of photos of them. August 4, 2016.
They’re not actually. They are just the common weed Queen Anne’s lace laying on our porch railing. But the way I edited the photo reminds me of lace and romance and weddings.
This is another example of an image I took awhile ago (July 12, 2016) and found a new way to edit it today.
I like this result a lot more than the original, which, though still pretty, was dark and didn’t evoke the emotion I really wanted from it.
Here’s that luna moth again.
I took quite a few pictures because it’s so rare to see them and I wanted to make sure I got a good one. The only ones that I really feel are worth showcasing are this one and the one I took as a self-portrait. The others were more so I could get a clear image I could isolate in photoshop and use in other projects.
I got a new toy! I ordered a set of cheap-o macro filters and got a chance to really try them out today. Here are some photos I took in the backyard using the 10x filter. I love these things! Now I can finally get really close and get those lovely smeary backgrounds I have been craving for so long…
A quick snap of the interesting vine growing near our driveway.
It was unseasonably cold today and I happened to find this little guy clinging to one of the dreamcatchers in the backyard. I thought he was dead at first but he seemed to move a bit when I got closer so I think he was just cold. Very glad to have the opportunity to photograph him so close, I love dragonflies!

This mushroom is growing out from underneath our kitchen counter right next to the sink! It may be a bit damp around there…

Another late night without having photographed anything. Luckily this little guy was around! Something about this image reminds me of those deep personal images found in 70’s issues of magazines like TIME. He’s a very important moth.
Despite the high ISO and noise I really like this image. I especially like it rendered in black and white like this. Very simple.
I was delighted tonight when I opened the back door to find a spring peeper clinging to the screen. I love these little guys!
One of a line of 3 neglected toy Matchbox cars on the outdoor sill of our pantry. I like these as a subject.
Found this little plant growing on the wrong side of the window in our barn. It seems to be looking wistfully out the window at the outdoors where it should be growing. I edited it to accentuate the textures, contrast, bokeh and desatureted it to add a that feeling.
A couple of handfulls of blackberries picked in the field today. I like how the lines of the plastic container they are in radiate outwards and is part of why I put a fun effect on it (that and I didn’t have many images to choose from today!).

This is an Eastern Black Swallowtail caterpillar. I was very excited to find two of these guys on my rue plant this morning. One of my favorite butterflies! I made a few images that I like and it took me a long time to decide but there’s something striking about the image in black and white so I chose this one.
Didn’t feel like going out for a photograph today. This was taken in my window. I like the grungy textures and the shadows.
This was the only photo I took today! Not on purpose, I was called in the moment after I made this shot. Glad it came out somewhat decent (though I would have made a better image if I had a bit more time). I think I made up for it by putting some fun effects on it.
This is one of the dreamcatchers in our set for Artemis. I liked how the feathers and ribbon are backlit and there’s a little bit of spiderweb showing as well. As this shot is primarily about light, I preferred it in black and white.
