This is a discipline I put myself on in 2014 to take and upload one photo a day. It started out as a private blog just for myself, but I decided to publish it in July 2019 to show my progress.
In continuing with photographing regularly, I went for something that caught my eye today. Someone must have picked up the fallen sign and placed it on the bench (the whole sign needs to be replaced, it fell and split in two with all the wind and snow we had midwinter). I have always liked the texture of that bench in black and white and I like the lines and perspective as well. Not one of my best images (I rather like it though!) but good practice for rendering into black and white.

I’m back at it. Not sure if I’m going to be super-diligent about doing it every day as I did before, but I will do it as regularly as I am able (as it certainly helps me to get better at my craft!). I am currently keeping a private photo journal, but I really like seeing all my images in one place as it enables me to see my progress (or the progress of my thoughts, or the progress of the seasons, etc). So I will do both.
I got a new toy! I ordered a set of cheap-o macro filters and got a chance to really try them out today. Here are some photos I took in the backyard using the 10x filter. I love these things! Now I can finally get really close and get those lovely smeary backgrounds I have been craving for so long…

It was unseasonably cold today and I happened to find this little guy clinging to one of the dreamcatchers in the backyard. I thought he was dead at first but he seemed to move a bit when I got closer so I think he was just cold. Very glad to have the opportunity to photograph him so close, I love dragonflies!

This is the mirror up against the brick chimney in my office. I liked the lines and textures and the grunge feel of this image. It was a last-minute shoot but I really like what I got from it!
I could have called this Triangle Moth. Looking closer he has a goofy face!
This mushroom is growing out from underneath our kitchen counter right next to the sink! It may be a bit damp around there…

Another late night without having photographed anything. Luckily this little guy was around! Something about this image reminds me of those deep personal images found in 70’s issues of magazines like TIME. He’s a very important moth.
Despite the high ISO and noise I really like this image. I especially like it rendered in black and white like this. Very simple.
I was delighted tonight when I opened the back door to find a spring peeper clinging to the screen. I love these little guys!

Found this little plant growing on the wrong side of the window in our barn. It seems to be looking wistfully out the window at the outdoors where it should be growing. I edited it to accentuate the textures, contrast, bokeh and desatureted it to add a that feeling.

A couple of handfulls of blackberries picked in the field today. I like how the lines of the plastic container they are in radiate outwards and is part of why I put a fun effect on it (that and I didn’t have many images to choose from today!).
